On December 7, 2015, the nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards revealed. Tori Kelly was nominated for Best New Artist.[1] Meghan Trainor ended up winning the award.
The 2016 Grammys were held on February 15, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. Tori Kelly was nominated for Best New Artist, but Meghan Trainor won.[2] She walked the red carpet before the show where she wore a green dress. Tori performed with James Bay (who was also nominated for Best New Artist) by both singing and playing the guitar. The performance was a mashup of their songs "Hollow" (Tori's song) and "Let It Go" (James' song).[3]
While Taylor Swift was giving her acceptance speech, the camera panned to Tori whose reaction became an internet meme. However, it was just bad timing and Tori stated she wasn't upset.[4]
